Today, the Biden Administration released its National Cyber Strategy, as it works to tackle the many threats facing our digital world.
The Operational Technology Cybersecurity Coalition strongly supports the U.S. government’s continued focus on protecting our digital ecosystem, with a clear understanding of the importance of defending our critical infrastructure in a world where cyber threats have a tangible impact on citizens’ everyday lives. By cultivating unity of purpose and efforts across agencies and sectors, the Office of the National Cyber Director can effectively contribute to the development and implementation of stronger national strategy, policy, and resilience for our digital ecosystem.
However, as new regulations and minimum cybersecurity requirements are considered for our critical infrastructure, a vendor- and technology-neutral approach must be taken. The harmonization of regulations must be based on open standards, as there is no single solution that can solve all of the cybersecurity threats we collectively face.
We are also eager to see sector-specific efforts in the implementation of the strategy due to the unique aspects of operational technology cybersecurity.
The release of this strategy is a key step in investing in our nation’s resilience, and we look forward to working closely with the government on the path forward.
